“Third Democracy Conference: Good Governance in Times of Crisis: Comparative Perspectives”

The Legislature of the State of Florida, and the Center for Democracy and Good Governance of Florida International University’s Institute for Public Management and Community Service, will organize the third Democracy Conference: “Good Governance in Times of Crisis: Comparative Perspectives.”

The purpose of the Democracy Conference is to interchange ideas and experiences for the building and strengthening of democracy in the Americas, and throughout the world. Within this context, the Democracy Conference will analyze the role played by national and regional legislative bodies, political parties and members of the executive branch in the strengthening of democratic governance. It will also consider topics relating to stability and economic growth, with particular reference to the critical relationship between Florida and the rest of the hemisphere.

This conference is oriented to governors, legislators and leaders of national and regional governments as well as interested business leaders and academics. Distinguished panelists from Latin America, Eastern Europe, South Africa, the United States and other countries will be in attendance to share their experiences and perspectives regarding democracy building and regional economic well-being.
