Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of Cities and Regions

The XXIII Inter-American Conference of Mayors and Local Authorities was successfully hosted June 12 - 15, 2017 drawing a grand total of 548 participants representing 22 countries throughout the Americas, the Caribbean and around the world. The conference was hosted by the Institute for Public Management and Community Service of the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, sponsored by the Miami Dade County Government, and the World Bank Group. This year’s conference featured special presentations by Mr.Jean-Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary-General, United Cities and Local Governments of Africa – UCLGA. Mr. Carlos Mesa Gisbert, Former President of Bolivia and Mr. Arturo Herrera, Sector Practice Manager of the Public Service and Performance Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean, part of the World Bank’s Governance Global Practice.
